City of Koprivnica was named after the eponymous creek named &#8220;Koprivnica&#8221;. &#8220;Koprivnica&#8221; is actually a diminutive of the word nettle. Koprivnica (Nettletown) is rich in wild nettles. A folk popular interpretation says: &#8220;<em>the lightning is so well aware of nettles, as a man too, so they both prefers to avoid it&#8221;<\/em> and also popular Croatian proverb says &#8220;<em>A lightning won\u2019t strike into stinging nettle&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In some alpine areas, it was written (based on folk mythology and poetry) that the peasants have putted nettles in front of the house when the storm was approaching so the lightning would not hit the house. Also, according to folks, it was believed that the nettle was in connection with love passion that has to burn in a heart with devastating flame. In old German manuscript <em>\u00abLanguage of Flowers\u00bb<\/em> says: &#8220;<em>that one who in heart feel love have to carry a nettle<\/em>&#8221; so they put nettle seeds in love potion.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-sep-clear\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;\"><div class=\"fusion-separator-border sep-single sep-solid\" style=\"--awb-height:20px;--awb-amount:20px;--awb-sep-color:#07601f;border-color:#07601f;border-top-width:1px;\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-sep-clear\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Nettle has large therapeutic properties. This plant is known, above all, to have a broad spectrum of activity and is good for regulating and reducing problems caused by frequent urination, stimulates the kidneys, purifies the blood, strengthens the immune system, reduces allergic reactions, improves digestion, and has a soothing effect.<\/p>\n<p>Nettle is rich in vitamin C, B, K, (dependent on habitat), various minerals such as iron Fe, magnesium Mg, phosphorus P, and manganese Mn, and also contains a lot of plant enzymes, phytosterols and other elements known to the modern pharmaceutical industry and food industry.<\/p>\n<p>Today we prepare nettle in various ways. Nettle can be prepared as an herbal tea; and you can make syrups and juices of it.
